Success Stories:
Primitive Reflexes Integration
Molly L. (Age 9)
Molly has been super quiet, shy, nervous, and scared to try anything new. After graduating from reflex integration, she's thriving. She is still quiet in new situations, which is normal. But she is trying new things, making friends, and is able to better manage stress. During the fall she was doing flips out of a tree into leaf piles! She tried out for the school play. Her balance in gymnastics has improved. We've watched her blossom right in front of our eyes while going through the primitive reflex therapy. She's no longer scared of going to school or worrying about all the things in the day. She's living her life, learning new things, and has so much JOY!
Thomas F. (Age 10)
Primitive Reflex Integration helped Thomas in these ways:
Ability to accomplish tasks
Increased coordination and balance
Less fear and anxiety overall
Increased self confidence
Due to trauma, Thomas had high levels of fear and anxiety. Through personalizing the fear paralysis exercise, it has been life changing for our family. Not to say there aren’t still struggles-but now we have these tools in exercise form.
Cooper D (Age 9)
Since finishing the Primitive Reflex program, Cooper's attention span has greatly increased and he is willing to try new things that he wasn't before.
Cooper would cry when getting his toe nails clipped saying that it hurt, and even though he still doesn't like it, he doesn't cry and scream. It’s so much easier now.
Clothing sensitivities have improved!
Cooper can talk and tell us his feelings and fears better now instead of having such big emotions and meltdowns. He seems happier overall that his nervous system isn’t overstimulated.
Damon E (Age 19)
When my son suffered his second severe concussion, things looked very bleak. At 19 years old, he was very frustrated at what had ended because of concussions (football, having to turn down division one scholarships and then having to end his mission early because of the accident that caused the second concussion. He was suffering badly and we were doing everything we could to think of to help him. We sought treatment from a highly recommended sports physician. He did six months of PT, OT and brain rehab from another highly recommended doctor. He had improvements to some of the really "loud" symptoms like balance, being able to eat and hold food down, etc. but still was not even close to being able to live a normal life! He had severe headaches, could not drive, could not read, remember much, could not be on a computer and a lot of social environments were way too much to handle. He was frustrated looking at the future with not being able to do school, work, etc. We were searching for solutions online and an acquaintance mentioned Dr. David and Utah Vision Solutions. We came as almost a last ditch effort to try to get some relief for him. What a miracle this has been for him! They were able to pinpoint very specific problems and started therapy. The therapist, RaeLynn, connected with him immediately and was able to push him and approach his treatment with the perfect balance. He definitely put in the work. They had a clearly outlined plan. We had progress evaluations which gave him motivation to keep at it. I am so grateful for the treatment he received because our son is back! He no longer suffers from the debilitating headaches. He can drive, read, workout, be social, etc. He has completely gotten his life back! The future is bright and he has been excited about life again!
Caleb W (Age 12)
My son has done both vision therapy and primitive reflex integration at Utah Vision Solutions but I feel the biggest changes in him have come from working on his retained reflexes. He is a completely different kid now. It took some time for his 12 year old brain to get on board with the simple exercises each day but once he started feeling better, it wasn’t a big deal at all. It just became part of his daily routine. We learned that he had an active Fear Paralysis Reflex, active fight/flight response and many other things that were affecting his vision, coordination, emotions, sleep, reading, etc. At one point, he was hiding in his room just about getting a haircut, he would burst into tears when talking about going to Junior High, etc. His poor nervous system was so fragile. I had never heard of primitive reflexes before we came to UVS and now I’m telling all my friends that they need to not just bring their kids here but come here themselves!

Primitive Reflex Integration has honestly changed my life, my marriage, and my kids’ lives. It’s unfortunate that it’s not widely known in the United States. My kids’ pediatricians barely knew what I was talking about when I mentioned they were doing it. But it’s not just for kids. I have a traumatic background and have learned that my brain has kept me in a constant state of fear, uncertainty and panic for most of my life. It wasn’t until I started to understand why our brain does that , that I understood that we could communicate a sense of safety to the brain by doing specific movements. I feel so much better now. My tolerance for stress is very different, my spouse and I communicate clearly, with less fear and more willingness to have hard conversations and not avoid everything. Most importantly, I finally understand what it means to “feel safe in my body” which has taken a lifetime.
Grace S (Age 25)
Vision, therapy and primitive reflex integration has significantly changed my life. I gained so much confidence in my vision which led to decreased anxiety and I’ve gained so much confidence in myself. RaeLynn and Doctor David provided me with the comfort and guidance that I needed toward having eye surgery. My surgery went so well and I know that vision therapy supported that outcome. After the surgery, I continued vision therapy to strengthen my visual system and support the surgical results. That combination as well as working on my primitive reflexes ended up being life-changing for me. Today, my double vision (that I had almost constantly for years) is gone! My eyes work together in a way they never did before! I finally feel like I have my life back! I cannot recommend Utah Vision Solutions enough. The emotional support RaeLynn has given me along with vision training has changed me and has helped me understand how intertwined our nervous systems are with our vision. I’m so sad to be graduating because this place has become such a comfort for me!
Erin S (age 31)
Vision therapy has been very helpful but PR is what started to make everything stick and change. I’m really impressed with RaeLynn‘s knowledge and passion for vision and primitive reflexes. The reflexes are a brilliant modality to add into vision protocols. It would be a dealbreaker for me in choosing any other vision clinic if I had to do this again. In my line of work, I can see that what I’ve learned at vision therapy is showing up in my clients as things that are potentially holding them back and I’ve been giving away business cards like crazy. It really is a key part of healing the whole person. I’ve spent thousands of dollars trying to heal various things: Vision, mental health, OCD physical coordination, memory disruption, etc. This has been the number one most helpful thing!
My daily migraines now only come if I’m dehydrated or too tired. My OCD symptoms have changed and in most domains have decreased. My coordination and confidence in movement have improved. Phototherapy is a must for TBI and primitive reflex/high anxiety patients. 10 out of 10 reccommend! My prism glasses: I often forget them and they don’t feel like a necessary part of the day.
Becca M (Age 19)
Before I did vision therapy, I would do things like work and drive and I would get really bad headaches. I also noticed my mood was not great but with the vision therapy, it improved both of those things and now I feel great! It also really helped with focusing my eyes, especially when it came to seeing things far away like street signs. I have noticed lots of changes and my therapist RaeLynn was awesome! I also did things to help develop my primitive reflexes and I noticed a lessening in my day-to-day anxiety.
Mak B (Age 19)
I came into vision therapy with a lazy right eye and I came out of vision therapy without one! I learned about primitive reflexes and started working on those right away as well. It has been amazing here at Utah Vision Solutions and I have loved it. Everyone here has been so kind and welcoming to me. Every time I come, I learn something new about my eyes and myself. My lazy eye is no longer an issue for me and my depth perception is a lot better. I want to keep doing the things I’ve learned from here so I never have to have this problem again. I love this place, and I know it will help so many more people like me.
Amy K (Age 41)
I was skeptical when I first heard about Primitive Reflex Integration (PR) therapy as it sounded very strange (and I'd never heard of such a thing!), but because of the success I'd had with vision therapy with the clinic, I was willing to give it a try. Over the next three and half months, I noticed significant improvement in my stress and fear responses, and even normal movement that would have caused neck strain no longer hurt at all. The exercises did feel a little silly as an adult - but the results are well worth feeling a little silly for a moment! I worked with a wonderful therapist who listened to my feedback and made me feel she truly cared about my results, not to mention she was thoroughly knowledgeable and I could tell this was a passion for her, not just a "job". I am convinced that PR therapy has positively impacted my life and I do not regret one moment of therapy!
